Once we were at Federation Square Luke took us across the river to the National Gallery of Victoria; an art gallery which I didn’t even know about and was a great surprise – one of the advantageous of being with a local.

There was modern art by Kaws that we got a brief look at out the front and then I found a section which had art from ancient Greece, Italy, Egypt and South America.

Still has the lid, very rare and cool.

It’s been a while since I have seen so much old historic pottery and art work – I was planning on visiting a nearby Greek Museum in Melbourne, but after this visit I just didn’t feel the need to.

We then went back to Federation Square for lunch before Luke headed off to Minotaur a comic shop, while we headed off to do a local Aboriginal walking Tour of Melbourne with the Koorie Heritage Trust.

The tour was an interesting hour learning about the local indigenous Aboriginal culture, not something I know a lot about. We got to see how the Aboriginal the use of the browns from the local ochre in the area through to the range of weapons and shields they used depending on what they are hunting or if they were fighting each other.

As Julianne is not feeling well, after the tour she jumped aboard a train from outside Federation Square heading home while the boys and I explored on foot back to Southern Station. It’s not a long walk, but we kept stopping and exploring into stores of interest and taking in the Melbourne life as we walked along.

We visited a typical tourist store, popped into a Dymocks bookstore, explored down some laneways and even came across Luke’s Minotaur comic store, which was much more than a comic store it was large and had a whole range of pop culture item for sale, Robin likened it to a maze.

Then on the way back to Southern Station we got a text from Julianne as we had all forgotten to give her the car keys so she was stuck at the train station. So the boys and I hurried back we were still an hour away, luckily big Luke went and picked Julianne up as he was home already so she didn’t have to wait too long.
